CHT Probe 4 PackLet’s face it – twin engine aircraft designers and manufacturers rarely sit in the cockpit of their own aircraft and fly it. Consequently, they have little or no idea as to the effectiveness of the instruments that they install in their aircraft. Besides, with “reduce costs and increase profitability” being their motto, they tend to be very minimalistic in their approach to twin engine aircraft monitoring instruments than is good for the new aircraft owner.

Almost every new owner feels the need to either replace several of the existing twin engine aircraft monitoring instruments or add new instruments that provide vital information that helps keep the engine fine-tuned, reduce fuel bills and makes it easy for post-flight analyzes (through data logging).

FS-450Better the mileage, longer the distance you can fly and consequently, greater the pleasure. Ever since the Wright brothers first flew their plane, figuring out maximum range for your aircraft has always been guesswork. Between then and now science and technology has made such strides that one would have thought that designing an instrument that helps calculate your fuel consumption and consequently the range, would have been a breeze.

It is not just calculating the range before the actual flight that is the problem; during flight too there can be lots of unexpected factors that result in higher fuel consumption. So what is your new range? Looking at the fuel gauges with their bouncing needles that bob ... Read more »

Flying your own aircraft is a thrill like none other and these owners are very careful the keep their aircraft in peek condition.

Immediate Release September 24, 2014 – Peak condition however, is a relative term because there are factors within an aircraft that are just not visible or factors that cannot be heard or felt. Take for example engine wear and tear. Wouldn’t it be nice if you had instruments in your cluster that provided just little tinny weenie bit more information on what was happening inside your aircraft engine?

Wouldn’t you love to know what kind of internal combustion pressures are exerted relative to your LOP? Take the EDM 800 engine analyzer engine analyzer (manufactured by JP Instruments) for example. When operated in LOP mode, it dis ... Read more »
