The mysterious disappearance of Malaysian airline flight 370 as well as the more recent crash of the AirAsia flight in and around the same region, highlights the need for better airplane safety both in terms of its handling by ground personnel as well as the kind of information provided to pilots via onboard flight instruments and aircraft engine data management systems.
It’s not that technology or the instruments are not available – the aftermarket in onboard flight instruments and aircraft engine data management systems is a big industry. The fact is, a lot of aircraft owners especially those buying pre-owned aircraft, don’t realize the risk they take by flying aircraft with obsolete onboard flight instruments.
